Why not make it your choice to join CCCRA today?
CCCRA is a volunteer-based community organization. We always welcome people with an interest in improving our community to join us. Membership can be arranged through a simple phone call (see below) or you can send an email to info@cccra.net .
Look through the opportunities below - there's bound to be a place for you to make a positive difference.
Events
The Events Committee typically organizes two to
three fund-raising events each year from spring through early fall.
Events like the Chili Cook-Off, Music of the Mountains, Lies and
Pies Jamboree, and the Car-B-Que have helped generate funding for
CCCRA projects. Members of this committee plan and carry out all
aspects of each fund-raising event including promotion and
publicity, food purchasing and preparation, set-up and clean-up,
entertainment procurement, and decorating.
Trails
and Greenwavs
The Trails and Greenways Committee promotes the
development of hiking trails and greenways for residents and
tourists, and encourages tourism while protecting the natural beauty
of our mountains, lakes, rivers and streams. This Committee is
currently involved in a long term project in partnership with
Southern Appalachian Biking Association and the US Forest Service to
develop approximately 15 miles of hiking and biking trails near
Committee members research opportunities to
establish trails and greenways, write grants to finance committee
projects, and provide labor to maintain trails and greenways.
Courthouse Restoration
This committee works to protect and restore the
old Clay County Courthouse, which is on the Register of Historic
Places.
Committee members secure professional advice on
the best, most cost effective methods of restoration, secure grants
for financing the restoration, seek bids for building and
landscaping work, and supply volunteer labor.
Membership
The charge of the Membership Committee is to build
a membership base, to encourage participation among members, and to
promote a spirit of volunteerism.
Committee members contact new members with a
letter and/or a phone call. They provide new member orientation,
match interests of volunteers with the needs of the Association,
recruit members for specific projects, provide leadership training,
and express appreciation for volunteer effort. Members of this
committee also work with the Association Treasurer to update
membership list. From this list they revise, print, and distribute
CCCRA's Annual Membership Book.
Communications/Public Relations
The purpose of the Communications/PR Committee is
to interpret CCCRA's values and objectives to the community and to
inform the public of CCCRA's activities and events.
Committee members promote events through the media
and with flyers, banners, and posters; write the CCCRA Newsletter;
create ways to portray CCCRA as a community service organization run
by volunteers whose purpose is to protect the environment, preserve
the local culture, foster economic development, and plan for the
future. News releases must be approved by the Board prior to
publication.
Appearance
The Appearance Committee's primary goal is to
maintain a clean, attractive environment which protects the natural
beauty of our communities, stimulates community pride, and creates a
setting that encourages tourism and business development.
Committee members clean streets and sidewalks
around the square and participate in county-wide litter pick-up,
promote the greening of our communities with seasonal plantings, and
organize special projects, such as the Boxwood liberation, the
"We1come to Hayesville" Banners, and the plantings at Four Points.
Committee members meet monthly during the spring, summer, and fall.
