CCCRA Logo Accomplishments
 

Selected CCCRA Accomplishments 

Since our chartering in December 1998, CCCRA

  • has received and disbursed over $500,000 in grants and contributions, and was honored with the 2002 Governor’s Award.

Contributing thousands of hours of labor, CCCRA volunteers have worked on:

  • sponsoring annual community-centered fundraising events,  36 "fun raisers" in all through 2007.

Restoring our County Court House

  • reversed the deterioration of Clay County’s historic 1888 courthouse with new drain systems, tuck-pointing, replacing the windows and completed a complete exterior renovation.

  • participated on the Committee formed by County Commissioners to determine future uses for the historic courthouse.

Improving Downtown Hayesville

  • replaced lights on the town square and repainted the gazebo and portico supports.

  • transformed a vacant lot on the square into a “Pocket Park”  including building and installing benches.

  • replaced diseased trees and decorated, spring and fall, with plantings.

  • placed commemorative bricks around new lampposts on the square.

  • placed trash receptacles and secured funding for regular cleanup.

  • built and installed the “Historic Hayesville” Information Sign on the square.

  • with Hayesville High School art students, installed murals of county scenes.

  • working with regional university resources, is sponsoring a community-led design plan to enhance the landscape appearance of downtown Hayesville

Improving the Overall Appearance of our Community

  • secured a master plan for downtown planting and walking paths

  • supported the community-wide Tough on Trash Initiative including volunteer work to pick up roadside litter and clean the town square

  • acquired the support of  D.O.T. to plant trees and promote an anti-litter campaign through roadside signage and hiring of contract workers to clean up highway litter

  • volunteers for landscaping projects at key public town locations
